Charges dropped against Stormy Daniels for alleged touching during onstage performance

Charges against porn star Stormy Daniels faced for allegedly touching three undercover detectives during an onstage performance have been dropped, according to her lawyer Michael Avenatti.

“I am pleased to report that the charges against my client @stormydaniels have been dismissed in their entirety (below motion was just granted),” Avenatti tweeted Thursday afternoon. “I want to thank Joe Gibson & his colleagues at the prosecutors ofc for their professionalism starting with our first call early this am.”

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, posted $6,054 in bail and was released Thursday morning.

Avenatti said in a Twitter thread that Daniels was a victim of a “setup” during her Wednesday performance at a strip club in Ohio and the charges against her were “politically motivated.”

The adult film star was expected to plead not guilty to the three misdemeanor charges.

Daniels rocketed into the national spotlight upon the revelation of a payoff of $130,000 she received from President Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen to keep news of her alleged affair with the president a secret.
